Statement of Faith:
We believe the Bible is God’s word to all people, was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living, and communicates truth without error.
That there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in God the Father, who is wonderful, awesome and the source of every good thing. He is all knowing, all powerful and all wise.
Jesus is the son of God. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect human sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He rose from the dead after three days, demonstrating his power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again for his people.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, an acceptance of the lordship of Jesus Christ and a corresponding lifestyle is mandatory.
We believe that people, both male and female, are created in God’s own image, meaning that we are spiritual beings with personality, morals, discernment and the capacity to know the creator God and that sin has damaged our capacity to know him and lead righteous lives apart from Jesus.
The only way eternal life is received is by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, by who’s indwelling the Christian is empowered both with spiritual gifts (to do what Jesus did) and with the fruits of the Spirit (to be what Jesus was).
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Our Lord Jesus Christ. Every believer is commissioned to go into the world and make disciples, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey the commands of Jesus Christ.
We believe the church is the primary, God established base of worship, nurture, fellowship and evangelism.
We believe that “believers’ baptism” is the outward sign of an inward reality, signifying and testifying publically to our association in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism is an important step of obedience, and is important in establishing our faith in a relationship with Jesus.

Are You Curious about Jesus
We believe Jesus never came to start a religion, He came to give us Himself! This is Good News, because we believe the message of Jesus
is totally irresistible and life changing! Unfortunately sometimes Jesus has been mis-represented and our hope is that we could re-present Jesus to you!
Avish is married to Monica and they have 2 daughters. Hailing from India he is passionate to see the Body of Christ being established on the Word of God. Professionally, he started as a mechanical engineer, but God put him into ministry in 2005 to serve His Church. As a Bible teacher God graciously opened doors to teach His Word in different Churches in and out of India, while working as an Assistant Professor in a University. On the basis of the study and revelations he not only completed his Ph. D, but also started helping Churches and organisations by teaching concepts of God's Economics in the New Covenant to see them grow. The Petras family's faith journey to New Zealand in 2018 is a testimony of the Lord's call and provisions to everyone who hears and follows the Lord's Word. They are committed to their call to serve the Body of Christ through the Riverside Christian Church Family.
