Avish Petras (pastor)
Avish is married to Monica and they have 2 daughters. Hailing from India he is passionate to see the Body of Christ being established on the Word of God. Professionally, he started as a mechanical engineer, but God put him into ministry in 2005 to serve His Church. As a Bible teacher God graciously opened doors to teach His Word in different Churches in and out of India, while working as an Assistant Professor in a University. On the basis of the study and revelations he not only completed his Ph. D, but also started helping Churches and organisations by teaching concepts of God's Economics in the New Covenant to see them grow. The Petras family's faith journey to New Zealand in 2018 is a testimony of the Lord's call and provisions to everyone who hears and follows the Lord's Word. They are committed to their call to serve the Body of Christ through the Riverside Christian Church Family.
Alan and Jeanette (elders)
Alan and Jeanette first met through youth group at this Church in the 1970’s and married in 1981. They have two daughters and two sons (plus two son-in-laws and two daughter-in-laws) and grandchildren. They have a dairy farm just north of Whanganui, this keeps them pretty busy along with the privilege of supporting their children and families who live nearby. They have taken an active part in church life throughout their married life, as deacons, youth leaders, small group leaders and in eldership for a number of years. They are looking forward to seeing God's plans continue to unfold for Riverside Christian Church, bringing the reality of a living Gospel message to those who have not yet heard it and supporting those who are seeking to live according to that gospel.
Lindsay Middlemiss - Elder
Lindsay was brought up in Invercargill and moved to Auckland in his early 20s, living there for 22 years. He was married in Auckland and has 2 adult children.
He came to Whanganui in 1998, and worked in Real Estate for 7 years, and at the Whanganui Hospital for 11 years.
Lindsay began to fellowship at Riverside in 2007, and has found being part of Church at Riverside both fulfilling and rewarding. He has a passion for prayer and is convinced that a praying church is a living church, because God turns up in answer to prayer.
Pamela and David Coleman - deacons
Leon Kyle - deacon
